What Lebanon Homeowners Need to Know Before Building a Fence

Here’s something a lot of folks don’t realize: the City of Lebanon requires a permit for every fence doesn’t matter the height, doesn’t matter the material. Fences here are regulated under the city’s zoning ordinance (Title 14), and there are rules that can bite you if you skip the paperwork:

• Easements matter. A fence placed in a utility or drainage easement that blocks access or water flow is a violation and the city can make you tear it out.
• Corner lots have sight-line rules. Fences near intersections can’t block driver visibility.
• Historic district and critical lot properties need additional approval before anything goes in the ground.

We handle the permit as part of every fence job. You don’t call the city, you don’t fill out forms, and you don’t find out the hard way that your fence line sits on a drainage easement. That’s part of what you’re paying us for.

The Part Nobody Talks About: The Posts

A vinyl fence is only as good as what’s holding it up. The panels get the attention, but the fence lives or dies at the posts and posts are set in concrete. That happens to be the thing we’ve done every working day since we opened. Proper depth, proper footing, proper drainage consideration, every post. Same rule as every slab we pour: do the base right and the rest takes care of itself. We don’t cut corners you can’t see.
